THE SCUBA WORLD DIFFERENCE: by Divemaster Robb Hawks

There are a number of scuba instruction facilities around Central Florida but they are not all "equal".  Sure, they may sport the PADI, NAUI, or SSI logo on their window but that does not mean that they all train their students to the highest ethical standard.

While training to become a Divemaster, I discovered that both the PADI and NAUI Standards and Policy manuals clearly imply that scuba instructors are ethically obligated to train their students in the conditions that they are most likely to encounter in their geographical area.  Simply put, if you live in an area like the midwest where there are typically lakes, you should be trained to dive in a lake.  But for those of us who live here in Central Florida; the ocean and the Keys call to us.  Let's face it, we are going to dive in the ocean.  That is why we want to be certified.

John Shimkoski and the instructor staff at Scuba World regularly train their students in both lakes and the ocean.  They take the extra time and expense to expose their students to true Florida diving.  I experienced this first hand from my basic Open Water certification all the way through Rescue Diver, Master Diver, and finally Divemaster.

I often encourage those seeking dive certification to make sure they don't pursue a "deal" but rather pursue quality.  Scuba World delivers!

"The Benwood" Dive Review
The Benwood is a dive I never get tired of doing.  The hull is fundamentally intact so underwater navigation is simple.  Stay on the wreck and you won't get lost.  There are a number of dive operators who dive this site and with 5 mooring buoys there is plenty of room.
